MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office said a detention officer has been fired after he was charged with assault on a female.
Officials said Phillip DeVore was arrested on Thursday. They said he’s been with the Sheriff’s Office since June 2017.
The Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying in part, “We are deeply disappointed in the conduct of one of our staff members. As a public safety organization, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office requires all employees to demonstrate professional and ethical conduct both on and off-duty.”
