Miami doughnut brand ready to open South End store — its first in NC

CHARLOTTE — The Salty Donut is narrowing in on its debut in South End. The Miami-based purveyor of doughnuts and coffee said it will open that store on Jan. 6.

The 2,305-square-foot store will serve small-batch, craft doughnuts with a focus on chef-made options. That includes cake doughnuts and a yeast variety that uses a 24-hour brioche recipe. It will also feature a coffee bar.

The Salty Donut is located at 1515 S. Tryon St., on the ground floor of Dimensional Place. That 282,000-square-foot tower, near The RailYard and 200 East Bland, delivered in 2019 and is owned by Dimensional Fund Advisors and Atlanta-based Cousins Properties.
