GASTONIA, N.C. — A motorcycle struck the rear end of a vehicle Wednesday at about 6:20 p.m. on South York Road near Bush Street in Gastonia, according to police.
The driver of the motorcycle, Dennis Vernon Conner, 50, was ejected from his motorcycle after striking the 2014 Toyota Corolla driven by Ricky Rankin, 36, of Gastonia, who was stopped making a left turn onto Bush Street, police said.
Conner sustained severe injuries and Rankin sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Both were transported by Gaston County Emergency Medical Services to Caromount Regional Medical Center.
Conner was speeding, police said.
