A woman, who didn’t want to be identified, said she moved to the neighborhood a week ago and heard multiple gunshots just steps from her home. She has two small children and they were all outside moments before the shooting, around 3:30 p.m.
"I was just going to take my kids inside and then I just heard, ‘Pop-pop-pop-pop-pop-pop,’” she said. “We were literally walking into the garage and it happened."
Police said someone walking on Hateras Avenue near Irma Street started shooting toward a gray house while people were out in the yard.
Three people were shot and rushed to the hospital.

“I didn't know what to think. I said, ‘Oh my God,’” a neighbor said. “All I can hear was gunshots and I ducked. I couldn't even look. I was so scared.”
Detectives spent hours canvassing the neighborhood, meticulously combing for evidence.
"I've never witnessed anything like that, I've never been around anything like that, so it was kind of scary,” the woman said.
Parents said they want to see change and safer streets.
"It's just sad because I have kids out here,” a neighbor said. “We need change in this city."
Police said the victims are cooperating but have not said if the shooter knew the victims.
