National Public Safety Telecommunicators week honors responders on the other end of 9-1-1 calls

CHARLOTTE — A call to 9-1-1 is often met by a calm voice hoping to get you the help you need.

Those heroes will be honored this week during National Public Safety Telecommunicators week.

The annual celebration is an opportunity to thank the hardworking folks who may go overlooked.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department telecommunicator Tiffany Brown shared with Channel 9 what the job means to her.

“Just knowing that you’ve made a difference or impact for even just one person, it could be their worst day, it could be small, but to them, it could be something,” Brown said.

National Public Safety Telecommunicators week has been recognizing the men and women in the roll since 1991.
