NCDOT: Ramp closure begins at Highway 74 to continue I-485 paving project

CHARLOTTE — The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) announced that crews will be closing ramps where I-485 meets Highway 74 temporarily beginning the week of August 13.

The closures are needed to safely continue paving associated with the I-485 express lanes project.

On Friday night, crews closed the loop, and the ramp from I-485 Outer to U.S. 74 East and West. Drivers were directed to a detour to the outer loop to Idlewild Road at exit 49 There, they could turn around to get to the inner loop.

NCDOT says the closures will happen every night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Saturday, August 19, with the exception of Saturday, August 12.

Drivers are asked to be on the alert for crews working in those areas and allow extra time to get to their destination.
