New food and wine fest set for May

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Plans for a new multiday food and wine festival have been announced.

Crave Charlotte is set to take place May 6-9 and will feature dinner events with top local chefs and mixologists, a cooking class with popular Chef Alyssa and a festival in uptown.

Participating chefs include Vince Giancarlo, from Zeppelin; Robert Hoffman, from Angeline’s; Chris Coleman, from The Goodyear House; and Craig Barbour, from Roots Cafe.

Tickets for the dinner events will be limited. Prices range from $70-$95.

The main festival event will be held from 1-5 p.m. May 9 at Romare Bearden Park.

Admission to the festival costs $75 for general admission and includes four hours of food, wine and craft beer sampling.

VIP admission costs $90 and includes early admission at noon, along with food, wine and craft beer sampling.

Proceeds from the events will benefit Rivendell Farms of the Carolinas, a nonprofit group that works to promote the local food and farming community, as well as STEM education initiatives.
