Officials investigate four Harrisburg businesses robbed in less than an hour

HARRISBURG, N.C. — Cabarrus County deputies are looking for thieves who they believe robbed from several Harrisburg businesses within minutes early Thursday morning.

Deputies say it appears the same people were involved in the robbery at each of the four targeted businesses that morning.

Surveillance video from Pub 49 in Harrisburg shows three people walking through the business, appearing to look for something.

They found the safe, but in it was only $20.50.

“They were approximately in here probably three minutes,” Pub 49 owner Bill Cole said. “You can see him looking down, like, 'There’s the safe. Jackpot.'”

Less than five minutes away, a Marco’s Pizza shot was also hit.

Hawthorne’s Pizza has to repair a glass window, but other than that, didn’t lose much.

“Our alarm went off around 3:54 in the morning,” manager Tim Arnette said. “Just the cash drawer and one-half bottle of liquor. That’s it.”

“What was their liquor of choice?” reporter Stephanie Tinoco asked.

“Jack Daniels,” Arnette replied.

Directly across the street, La Unica restaurant was also broken into.

“All they stole was Expo markers, menus and $3,” employee Val Brocq said.

Employees and owners of those businesses are glad it wasn’t any worse, but they still feel uneasy that crime struck in their neighborhood.

“A lot of crime has been happening, and I don’t know, it just makes me feel scared,” Brocq said.

“Harrisburg is a great community and, obviously, with the shooting back in December, and now four break-ins in Harrisburg within 45 minutes, it’s disheartening.”
