LAKE NORMAN, N.C. — A teen was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after two personal watercraft collided on Lake Norman.
An 18-year-old male driving one watercraft rear-ended a second craft, injuring a passenger who was also an 18-year-old male.
The injured teen had a broken leg, authorities said.
The driver of the watercraft that was hit was a female under 18 years old, police said.
The teen with the broken leg was airlifted to the hospital as a precaution, to make sure he didn't have internal injuries.
Officials said this was the first accident on Lake Norman this year.
No other serious injuries were reported. Everyone knew each other and was wearing a life vest.
