One person dead after four-vehicle crash in Chesterfield County

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — A four-vehicle crash on U.S. 601 in Chesterfield County left one person dead on Thursday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded around 11:20 a.m. to a crash at Dove Sutton Road about one mile north of Pageland.

Investigators said four vehicles, including a tractor trailer, were involved in the accident.

A 2013 Hyundai four-door sedan was turning left from Dove Sutton Road to head north on U.S. 601 when they were hit by a tractor trailer driving southbound, troopers said.

After being hit, the Hyundai travelled into the northbound lane of U.S. 601 where it was hit by a 2020 Chevy SUV. A fourth vehicle, a 2019 Hyundai SUV, was struck by debris.

Highway patrol said the driver of the Hyundai sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional details were released on the person’s identity.

No other drivers were injured in the accident.
