Two arrested after Lenoir man found shot to death in car

LENOIR, N.C. — A second suspect has been arrested in connection to a shooting that left a man dead Tuesday night in Caldwell County.

Isaac Dixon, 22, was taken into custody in Morganton. He was charged with murder and given no bond, deputies said.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded around 6:45 p.m. to a call of a man who wasn’t breathing inside a Subaru at the intersection of Old North Road and Collettsville Road. When they arrived, deputies found 25-year-old David Martinez Aguilera, of Lenoir, dead inside the car.

Investigators said he had been shot to death.

In a release, detectives said they were able to find out the shooting happened inside a home on Quailridge Court in Lenoir.

Deputies issued two arrest warrants in the case and were able to capture 22-year-old Zachary Kersey in Lenoir on Tuesday morning. He has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder. He is in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $750,000 bond.

Both Dixon and Kersey are scheduled for their first court appearance on Jan. 13.
