CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Surveillance photos were released Tuesday after multiple guns were stolen from a dealer's business in Pineville.
The smash-and-grab robbery was reported around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives told Channel 9.
The gun shop owner told Channel 9 that four people broke into The Range at Ballantyne on Polk Street and took a quarter of his inventory.
It took 41 seconds for them to steal seven long guns and five pistols, officials said.
Special agent Gerod King said officials are not only worried about the crime, but whoever has the weapons now.
"They end up in the hands of criminals," King said. "You have to consider the subsequent crimes that may occur from these guns being on the streets."
Agents think the four are in their late teens to early 20s.
"(Surveillance photos) may be clear enough for someone to recognize facial features, body shapes or clothing that they're wearing," King said.
The ATF and the National Shooting Sports Foundation are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
"We don't really care what their motivation is as long as we get the lead," King said.
Anyone with information is asked to call ATF at 1-800-283-4867.
