HUNTERSVILLE, N.C.,None — Police said they are looking for David William Hamilton after a man and a woman were found dead in a Huntersville home on Friday afternoon.
The victims, whose names have not been released, were found dead around 2:30 p.m. in a home in the Centennial community, off Huntersville-Concord Road. Police said a relative called them after stopping by the house.
Police have not said whether Hamilton, 25, has any relationship to the victims, but they did say he lived in, and his parents owned, the house.
They think he is driving a black Toyota Rav 4. The license plate on the small SUV is 008-4PA and is a Piedmont Airlines specialty plate, police said.
Police believe Hamilton may have stopped taking his medications prescribed him for mental health issues. Hamilton is a diagnosed schizophrenic who has been hospitalized in the past, police said.
According to police, the man's cell phone was tracked to an antenna in the Myrtle Beach area around 5 p.m. and believe he may be heading to the Charleston area. They are also looking into the possibility that Hamilton is headed to the Washington, D.C. area because he has ties to the city. Police did not elaborate on what those connections were.
Investigators said this type of crime has never happened in the neighborhood.
"It's a very nice neighborhood -- never any complaints, never any calls for service in this neighborhood," said Lt. Ken Richardson with the Huntersville Police Department.
Many neighbors are on edge after the incident.
"It makes me feel scared, because I don't know what happened or why," Cynthia Powers said.
