CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Speed was a possible factor in a deadly single-vehicle crash that happened at about 9 a.m. Saturday on The Plaza near Eastway Drive, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
The 1997 Honda Civic hit a utility pole and the driver was thrown from the car. The driver, Latravius Antonio Tate, died at the hospital later that night, police said.
Witnesses said they saw Tate driving erratically before he lost control.
The license plate on the Honda was fake and it was not registered.
It is not known if Tate was impaired at the time of the wreck.
