CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A vehicle crashed through a locked gate at a church so the thieves could steal lawn equipment, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

The gate leads to storage areas behind Hickory Grove Baptist Church at 13200 Mallard Creek Road.
The break-in happened between 10:30 p.m. Monday and 4 a.m. Tuesday.
