CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The owners of The Fig Tree Restaurant have plans for a new venture in Charlotte's Belmont neighborhood.
Greg and Sara Zanitsch are under contract for two parcels in the 1200 block of Kennon Street — home to Belmont Corner Market. They anticipate closing on those properties in the first week of January, contingent on a rezoning petition for the site.

"We always said we were going to do a second restaurant," Greg Zanitsch says. "I think we both knew it when we saw it."
The couple was drawn to the historic, 2,400-square-foot building, which dates to 1924. The Belmont neighborhood seems poised for growth. And, the timing was right with their three children now in school.
