Walmart office closure to result in 250+ layoffs

CHARLOTTE — Walmart Inc.’s previously reported move to close its corporate office in Charlotte will impact more than 250 employees.

The retail giant said in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification sent to state and local officials that there are 267 employees located in or reporting to its office at 2118 Water Ridge Parkway, off West Tyvola Road near the Charlotte airport. Walmart, based in Bentonville, Arkansas, said the entire office will close this year.

Walmart said it expects many of those workers to relocate or continue employment in a new position with the company.
