CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One of Charlotte’s best known car dealers died Thursday night.
Louis F. Harrelson died at the age of 87 and with his death left behind more than 60 years in the auto business.
Harrelson was the man behind Harrelson auto dealerships and also owned six other dealerships before he pleaded guilty to fraud charges in 2010.
“He would never steal a dime from anyone. He took a plea deal to keep other people from going to jail,” said his daughter Brooke.
Harrelson’s employees were inflating customer incomes and inflating trade-in values in order to profit off the difference when the cars were sold.
