CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Douglas International Airport retains its status this year as one of the nation's "most connected" domestic hubs, according to a new report from U.K.-based airline analytics firm OAG.
Charlotte Douglas, a major hub for American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ: AAL) with a dominant percentage of connecting passenger traffic, ranks among the top five U.S. "megahubs" with the highest ratio of possible scheduled connections to the number of destinations served by that airport. CLT's position in OAG's "Megahubs Index 2019," however, slipped one spot to No. 4, from No. 3 last year.
Charlotte Douglas, American Airlines' second-largest hub, is replaced as the third-most connected airport by Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport, which is home to AA's headquarters and largest hub.
