CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A mother of three wants the person who fired bullets into her east Charlotte home early Saturday morning to be caught and arrested.
Tychovia Whitmire said she was jolted out of bed around 5 a.m. but didn’t notice anything out of place, until she got up three hours later.

“When I seen it, I’m like, ‘What happened to my wall?’ And then I looked over and then I saw this hole,” she told Channel 9. “It came through a box, then it came through some pants and then it came to my daughter’s bed and it landed right here.”
The bullet landed in her father’s clothes she had picked out for his funeral after he died a few days ago.
“These are my daddy’s clothes and these clothes saved his granddaughter’s life,” Whitmire said. “She chose to lay here down at the bottom where her pillow is still left.”
Outside, several more bullet holes could be seen along the house.
Police do not have a good suspect description because the shooting happened so early in the morning.
Whitmire believes that it started as an argument between people in two vehicles, and the bullets inadvertently hit her house. And while she is thankful her kids are OK, she wants the suspects caught and the gun violence to stop.
“I had no idea how big the hole was. Imagine what it could’ve done to my child’s head?” Whitmire said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Saturday’s incident is part of a disturbing trend they’re seeing more of. Shootings into homes have increased 18% from this time last year.
“We have to work together, and it’s going to take the whole community,” Whitmire said.
