LINCOLNTON, N.C.,None — As the sound of construction filled the air over Moore Street in Lincolnton, the buzz of booming business spread across the town's Main Street.
"It's been a blessing," said John Gregory, from House of Pizza. The restaurant, along with other shops and hotels in Lincolnton, has seen sharp increases in business since "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" showed up there Sunday.
The project to build a new home for James and Devonda Friday has brought builders, thousands of volunteers and dozens of production crew members to Lincolnton. All of those people need to eat and places to sleep.

"It's definitely an economic impact," said Lincolnton Mayor John Gilleland. He said he even noticed a larger crowd going out to dinner since the "Extreme Makeover" project started.
While some businesses have been gaining, other have been giving. Lisa Pendry runs Fabric and Drapery Designs in Denver and has donated about $4,000 worth of material to Extreme Makeover.
"It's an honor," Pendry said.
She's thrilled to not only be supplying fabric to the Friday's new home but also to a new House of Hope being built in their honor. The House of Hope will supply basic needs, like toiletries and blankets, to people in need.
Organizers say they still need more supplies donated to the facility.
