Paramedics rushed an 11-year-old girl to the hospital Sunday night after a drive-by shooting in west Charlotte.

Police blocked off the intersection of Caronia and Ross streets as they searched for shell casings and interviewed witnesses.

Family members said the shooting happened after a drug deal and Starr McKnight was an innocent victim.

"She fell and she was like, 'I got shot, I got shot,' and my sister said, 'Go look at Starr.' So I looked at her and she was on the floor bleeding a lot," said Derintay McKnight.

McKnight, 13, said he heard multiple gunshots and his sister was shot in the leg. He said she's a sixth grader at Coulwood Middle School.

Police said they are looking for several men in a blue Chevy Caprice.
