Power outages reported

More than 1,200 Duke Energy customers in Union County and nearly 900 in Mecklenburg County lost power because of the storms.

Trees uprooted

Strong wind and heavy rain caused a tree to uproot and land on a house in Lincoln County.

The house on Lineberger Road was recently sold and a couple was helping the homeowners move out.

They said the job was almost done when it began to pour.

Part of the tree fell between the truck and the trailer hitch. Firefighters had to help move it out of the way.

No one was hurt.

In north Charlotte, a tree uprooted and fell on a power line on Meadow Lane near Nance Cove.

Smoke billowed from where the power line went down.

Neighbors said they didn't lose power, but the road was closed until crews could come clean up the mess.

HOLIDAY WEEKEND: This summer-like pattern continues over the next several days through the 4th of July holiday.
