Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to open on normal schedule Monday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced the district will open on a regular schedule on Monday after closing for two days due to Hurricane Michael.

Officials said they wanted to thank families, students and staff for their focus on safety and patience after Hurricane Michael passed through the area.

In addition, CMS said it wanted to thank the school's operations team and Duke Energy for working to restore power to the district's 32 facilities.

CMS was closed Thursday and Friday as Michael passed through the Charlotte area.

Students, staff, and faculty also previously were forced to take days off when Hurricane Florence pushed through the Carolinas in September.
