Memorial rebuilt for 1995 crash victims

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Friends and family members held a memorial service Saturday for Laura Barnette and Mandi Meador, who were killed in a vehicle crash in 1995.

In late July of this year, the memorial garden was removed by a man with a mental illness living in town.

The destruction of the memorial garden drew the attention of Huntersville police officers, the media and local businesses who wanted to help the family re-establish the site.
