CHARLOTTE, N.C. — August brought with it some additional restaurant closures, but the month was also marked by new dining spots and those opening in the coming weeks.

Among those closures is The Liberty Blakeney in south Charlotte — the third eatery to shutter (following The Liberty South End and Lumiere French Kitchen in Myers Park) under the same local restaurant group.
A biscuit and doughnut concept, Rise Biscuit Donuts, also has closed its only two Charlotte locations in Steele Creek and Ballantyne.

On the flip side, Plaza Midwood has gained new concepts, including Pilot Brewing and popular Mediterranean eatery Yafo Kitchen, both located in the new One305 Central project at 1331 Central Ave.; Legion Brewing Co. is making headway on its SouthPark restaurant and brewery — which will be that neighborhood’s first — with plans to open it later this month; uptown will soon add another rooftop bar and restaurant above two new hotels at the EpiCentre; and Sabor Latin Street Grill continues to quickly grow its local footprint.
This installment of CBJ's Restaurant Bites provides a closer look at the latest news on eateries and drinking spots across the Charlotte area.
