Police say shooting threat reported at North Meck HS not credible

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Police said reports of a shooting threat at North Mecklenburg High School Tuesday morning were not credible.

Officers told Channel 9 Alexander Middle School, Blythe Elementary School and North Mecklenburg High School were all placed on lockdown as a precaution after officials got wind of a shooting threat at North Meck.

Officials sent a number of officers to North Mecklenburg High and surrounding schools to ensure everyone's safety.

Police said they found the 15-year-old student who called in the threat and determined it was false.

The student will be charged with making a false report concerning mass violence on educational property.

All schools returned to normal operations just before 11:30 a.m.
