An entity called the South Tryon Community Development Corp. acquired the land lease at Brookhill Village, which covers about 36 acres at South Tryon Street and Remount Road, on Dec. 31 for $792,000, according to Mecklenburg County real estate records.

What’s being called the New Brookhill is being led by South Tryon Community Development, a nonprofit, as well as Tom Hendrickson, president of Lookout Ventures. An affiliate of Lookout will serve as the developer while Brookhill Land Lease Ventures LLC will serve as leasehold tenant for the proposed project.

Plans call for a 324-unit multifamily community with three-story flats and two-story townhouse buildings on about 15.5 acres of the Brookhill Village site.
