GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia mother is suing an elementary school where she said her 6-year-old was injured by another student during recess.
Channel 9's partners at the Gaston Gazette reported Christina Clarot filed a lawsuit against the Gaston County Board of Education, Lingerfeldt Elementary School and staff members on Feb. 20 -- nearly three years after that recess.

The lawsuit claims another student knocked Clarot's child off a piece of equipment similar to monkey bars, causing the child to fall several feet to the ground and break an arm.
Clarot asserts the defendants failed to properly watch students on the playground and maintain order and discipline. She also accuses them of being careless or negligent.
Saying her child suffered "great physical pain and mental anguish," Clarot is seeking $100,000.
The school system doesn't comment on pending lawsuits.
