CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 27-year-old man was killed Tuesday morning after the motorcycle he was riding ran off the road and hit a concrete culvert ditch, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Jorge Diaz, who was wearing a helmet, crashed a 2003 Yamaha on Parkton Road in east Charlotte.
He died at the scene.
Diaz was not wearing safety gear other than the helmet, and speed appears to be a factor, police said.
The wreck is under investigation.
