CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Tuesday night, Charlotte will ring in the new year and a new decade with a major celebration in uptown.
With a major celebration comes minor changes to the way uptown operates and preparations are underway for the New Year’s Eve celebration.
Levine Avenue of the Arts closed Monday between South Tryon Street and Church Street as staff started setting up the stage.
At 10 a.m. Tuesday, South Tryon Street between Stonewall Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will also close.

“What’s different this year is that the Belk Bowl is the same day, so you can be uptown all day. You can do the Belk Bowl at noon, you can stay here for dinner and then you stay here with that great party with friends and family starting at 8,” said Vica Bondurant, with Charlotte Center City Partners.
