CHARLOTTE, N.C. — American Express Co. made official on Wednesday its plans to bring a Centurion Lounge to Charlotte Douglas International Airport, releasing a few new details about the space.
American Express wouldn’t comment on those plans last week, when news of the lounge coming to CLT spread after a lease item appeared on Charlotte City Council’s consent agenda for its business meeting on Nov. 26. City leaders approved terms of a lease agreement over a 10-year period and valued at $10.5 million.
On Wednesday, however, the New York City-based financial services giant announced two new locations in its Centurion Lounge network: one in Charlotte and another at Heathrow Airport in London.
Chris Cracchiolo, senior vice president of Global Loyalty & Benefits at American Express, tells CBJ that CLT’s designation as one of the nation’s busiest airports and its serving as a key connecting hub made it ideal for a Centurion Lounge.
“The lounge will offer specially curated amenities that will serve as a nod to Charlotte’s local culture,” Cracchiolo says.
