CHARLOTTE, N.C. — With the number of travelers going through Charlotte Douglas International Airport checkpoints expected to increase over the July Fourth holiday, airport officials are on alert for passengers carrying weapons.

Channel 9 learned not only are passenger numbers rising, but agents are finding more weapons in people's carry-on bags.
Officials said 35 guns have been found at Charlotte Douglas checkpoints so far this year and many of them were loaded.
