In November 2025, hundreds of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents descended on the Carolinas in a surge of immigration enforcement activities.
Over 400 people were taken into custody during the week-long enforcement campaign. But the arrests caused panic and uncertainty in Charlotte and the surrounding communities.

Border Patrol targets Charlotte shopping centers; US citizens arrested

Channel 9 reporter Hunter Sáenz saw people using whistles to alert others as Border Patrol agents conducted operations, the same week two U.S. citizens were detained in Plaza Midwood after allegedly following agents during the immigration crackdown that has led to 250 arrests.


Border Patrol spreads from Charlotte to NC foothills

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents were spotted detaining someone in a business parking lot in Lenoir on Wednesday, and Channel 9’s Dave Faherty learned that neighbors in Catawba County are preparing for an immigration crackdown.
